UPDATE: Pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 Pro are now available at Amazon.ORIGINAL STORY: Shortly after Microsoft revealed its plans to release iterative editions of the Xbox One, leaks suggested that Sony was working on an upgraded version of the PlayStation 4. The existence of the PS4 Neo was announced by Sony a few days before this year’s E3, though that reveal didn’t provide much information beyond what was already leaked. Things have been quiet on the PS4 Neo front since then, but if a recent rumor is true, it appears we may learn more about Sony’s upcoming console as early as next month.A French site is reporting that Sony will hold an event in New York City on September 7 that is centered around the PS4 Neo. If you recall, the reveal event for the PlayStation 4 also happened in The Big Apple in February of 2013. This date would be several days before the start of this year’s Tokyo Game Show which kicks off on September 15. As we reported in June, Sony will be showing the PS4 Neo at this event along with a PS4 slim. Having these two announcements back to back for both the North American and Asian markets would certainly be a smart move by Sony.Rumors have previously suggested that the PS4 Neo would be released as early as October to coincide with the launch of the PlayStation VR — a peripheral that will be helped by the extra horsepower of the PS4 Neo. Yet another rumor says that the PS4 Neo will be released in Spring of 2017.Right now, we can’t say for sure when the console will actually launch. Hopefully, this reveal event, if true, will provide answers. If this is just a rumor, then we still have TGS to fall back on. Either way, we’ll know more about the PS4 Neo in September.
