Situated in the old village of ormône, this house was built in 1860, and then altered over the years. It stands in the middle of an area of the village that has tremendous character, and consists of a masonry base of natural stone whose upstream part rises up to form the backbone of the building and whose downstream part is surmounted by a timber structure.Save this picture!BeforeSave this picture!© Thomas JantscherThe timber part is simply raised. The masonry part is altered. This stone spine, which links the whole project together, is extruded in a kind of “chimney” to the east and extends to the north to form an annexe.Save this picture!© Thomas JantscherThe rustic simplicity of this building is accentuated by the treatment of the outer walls, which are given unity by a coating of simple render, applied both to stones from which render had been removed so they could be re-pointed in a style similar to traditional “pietra rasa” plasterwork, and also to the new parts constructed in concrete.Save this picture!© Thomas JantscherThe large areas of glazing flush with the exterior further accentuate its mineral appearance, emphasising its carefully-smoothed lines, while orienting the spaces towards chosen views: the rhône valley to the east, savièse to the north, the mountains of val d’hérens to the south and the garden to the west.Save this picture!B-B’ Longitudinal SectionIn the northern part, the spaces are structured by two partial floor slabs, which open onto circulation and living spaces and allow visual relationships between the occupants of the different levels, the children on the first floor and their parents in the eaves. The character of the house’s exterior is echoed in its interior by the use of a mineral coating on the walls, and by the use of exposed concrete slabs for the floor.Save this picture!© Thomas JantscherIn the southern part, set behind timber walls, the bedrooms are covered with larch panelling, producing a contrast with the rest of the project.Save this picture!A-A’ Transversal SectionThis timeless contrast between mineral and the wooden elements, established when the house was first built, is thus retained and reappropriated, providing consistency with the original structure.Save this picture!© Thomas JantscherProject gallerySee allShow lessThe Bench in the Garden: An Inquiry Into the Scopic History of a BenchArchitecture BooksJ Pavilion in Xiaogan / Total ArchitectureSelected Projects Share “COPY” Houses ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/871928/reynard-rossi-udry-house-savioz-fabrizzi-architectes Clipboardlast_img read more

first_imgAdvertisement Facebook Print Twitter YOUTH crime in Limerick is down over 20% from last year, according to figures just released by the Irish Youth Justice Service. Sergeant Ollie Kennedy, Henry Street Garda Station, said that Garda Youth Diversion Projects set up across the city have played a huge role in reducing these figures.Sign up for the weekly Limerick Post newsletter Sign Up “The idea is to divert young people who have come to the attention of the Gardaí away from crime”.The number of children referred to Limerick Gardaí in 2009 dropped by over 20%, from 1,680 to 1,314The number of children referred to the city’s Garda Youth Diversion projects dropped by 14% in 2009, from 1,109 to 951.There are five Garda Youth Diversion projects in Limerick City; Irishtown, Moyross, King’s Island, Ballynanty and the Southside Project and one in Newcastle West. When someone is referred, Gardaí approach their parents and discuss the possibility of entering a youth diversion project.Sgt Kennedy has been encouraged by the number of young people who have returned to education and completed their Leaving Cert through these projects.“We get the guys who feel they could be going down the wrong road and we show them there is an alternative”.Activities and programmes include car projects, watersport, bike projects and arts & crafts.“It’s important to break down barriers between the young people at risk and the Gardaí.“Just last week I saw young people kayaking with Gardaí and it’s was very good humoured and gave them a chance to see the Gardai are human,” said the Henry Street Sergeant. He explained that they attempt to make young people more conscious of their role in the community.“If there is a group harmlessly hanging around in an estate shouting and roaring, an elderly person who lives alone might think they are up to something so they should be conscious of how they are perceived”. Clippers assistant GM Trent Redden to remain with team after meeting with Pelicans

first_img“When you walk into the building, there’s a spirit, there’s an energy that just sort of encapsulates you,” Winger said before Game 4 of the first-round playoff series at Staples Center last week. “You feel like you’re not part of something any other organization knows. It’s refreshing, it’s really unique. It makes you feel like you have meaning, like you have some purpose, and I like that.”Redden has been an assistant GM with the Clippers since shortly after leaving Cleveland in 2017. When Griffin didn’t come to terms on a new deal to stay on as the Cavaliers’ top basketball executive, Redden left the organization. The Clippers’ front office will remain intact after assistant General Manager Trent Redden decided to remain in L.A. after meeting with the New Orleans Pelicans about a high-ranking job, as was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and confirmed by a league source.Redden will continue his work with Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, President Lawrence Frank and GM Michael Winger, who recently turned down a chance to interview for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ president of basketball operations position.Earlier this month, the Pelicans – whose new executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin worked closely with Redden when they were with the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning the 2016 NBA championship – were granted permission to discuss a senior front-office role with Redden.Related Articleslast_img read more
