Facebook Aims To Simplify Sharing, Ad Targeting With Android Apps

first_imgFacebook is Becoming Less Personal and More Pro… selena larson Today Facebook announced a major update to the Facebook SDK for Android intended to further simplify the process of letting users share news and updates from outside apps, while also beefing up support for Facebook advertisers. The update introduces what Facebook calls the “Share Dialog,” which enables users to share activity and tag friends from applications without having to first log in to Facebook. The update also includes support for Object API, which makes it easier for developers to integrate Facebook’s Open Graph into Android apps. Open Graph is Facebook’s technology for letting apps push information and updates to Facebook proper. The update also provides new tools that let apps developers track, analyze and publish the actions their users take within their apps, such as adding products to a cart or achieving a new level within a game. This is largely intended to help advertisers measure the effectiveness of their mobile ads on Facebook. Similarly, Facebook will now let app developers define particular subsets of customers as “custom audiences” for future ad targeting.
