Virgin Blue to fly CairnsAuckland next year

first_imgVirgin Blue will fly between Cairns and Auckland next year, announced the airline on Wednesday.From 23 March 2010, Pacific Blue will operate the twice weekly flight with a Boeing 737-800 – effectively increasing the number of seats available on the route by 79 percent.Virgin Blue Chief Executive Brett Godfrey said the services would provide passengers with another option and help grow the market.“We know that by putting more seats into the market and creating more competition we will be helping to stimulate tourism to the popular Far North Queensland region” he said.The carrier has now launched a 7-day ‘Happy New Year Sale’, offering special one way fares from $249 on the Cairns and Auckland route.Fares are now available on the internet until midnight 5 January 2010 and are for travel from 23 March 2010 to 22 June 2010 and 20 July 2010 to 14 September 2010.Regular lead-in fares will start from $349, the carrier said.
