Findley Refutes Removal Plan

first_imgThe office of the President Pro-tempore has termed as false and misleading media reports that there are plans by the Liberian Senate to obtain majority vote to unseat the Grand Bassa County Senator, Gbehzohngar M. Findley from his post as President Pro-tempore of the Senate.A release from Sen. Findley’s office said that contrary to speculation, the Pro-temp enjoys the explicit confidence of his fellow Senators and has “operated astutely within the confines of the laws and rules governing that body, with all fundamental and national assignments properly executed.”The release further stated that since Senator Findley’s election by members of the Senate, “the Grand Bassa Senator has demonstrated impeccable administrative ability in governing the affairs of the Liberian Senate; something which has been attested to by his colleagues.”“Senator Findley, with support of his fellow Senators, remains focused on helping to propagate mechanisms geared towards curbing the deadly Ebola outbreak and will not be deterred by the unfounded speculation of unseating him.“At no time has the Senate Pro-tempore   reduced the sitting of the Liberian Senate into a cheering squad of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, therefore terming the article captioned ‘Senate To Boot Findley Out’ published in the Thursday, October 30, 2014, edition of the Daily Observer newspaper, as a  deceptive, fabrication and stage-managed reportage intended to undermine the credibility of the Grand Bassa lawmaker.”They further said that the Liberian Senate remains a responsible body of elders, who will not compromise the health of the Liberian people by diverting from the fight against the ‘killer Ebola virus.’ “It is regrettable for a respectable newspaper to use such quote saying, ‘Since winning that heavily contested poll, the Grand Bassa independent candidate has been struggling to stamp his authority in the operations of the house of elders, causing him to lose full control of power.”Contrary to those assertions, Senator Findley has professionally handled the operations of the Liberian Senate in accordance with its standing rules and governing proceedings; and will never subject that body to public disrepute or any form of disrespect. And for the record, Sen. Findley has never struggled; rather he has perfectly discharged his national duties accordingly,” the release noted.Meanwhile, the Daily Observer maintains that the publication is credible and due diligence, as pointed out by Senator Findley, was accorded to the extent that reaction from the Pro Temp’s office was mentioned.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
